Tips to Save Money on your Rental

  • Many management companies and vacation houses supply Charleston area area promotional travel catalogs which include offers, either offered individually by local companies, or through a relationship between the property manager and the store itself. Be on the lookout for these publications and promotional books, since this allows visitors to take advantage of the same fantastic attractions at a possibly substantial discounted.
  • Are you willing to shift your dates? The off-peak seasons will offer terrific rates on daily rental accommodations.
  • Are you a military veteran? Quite a few property management companies provide concessions to vets and active-duty forces. Be sure to confirm with property owner to see if your visiting gang is eligible for a special offer.
  • Some properties are primarily designed for specific groups of guests. Large event homes are perfect for weddings, receptions and corporate escapes. Some rentals appeal to beach bums. Other properties are positioned close to nightlife. You'll get the most value from a rental which most thoroughly satisfies your ideal vacation setting, regardless if it costs a bit more.
  • Property management companies and individual home owners commonly offer customers the opportunity to obtain trip insurance coverage. Trip insurance, which generally add between 1% - 5% of the basic vacation rental cost, offers buyers reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a consequence of personal health related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or charges, like an unanticipated hotel room stay or extra gas.

How to Book a Vacation Home

Newcomers are often shocked at the number and selection of weekly properties available in the Charleston area area. With such a wide selection, clients are certain to come across a property which fits their desires and spending plan.

Nearly all vacation rentals in Charleston area are privately owned and many are represented by experienced local property management companies. For owners not directly involved with the management of their properties, management companies are critical in assisting vacationers with reserving, checking-in, housekeeping services, as well as routine service issues that may arise.

Here are some ideas and strategies to help you understand the rental search and reservation process.

Where to find and reserve the perfect rental home:

Before you decide to book "OCEANFRONT, Fully Updated Condo in Shipwatch- Pool and Playground", examine our short list of considerations.

The Sooner You Begin, The Better The Selection

Like many renowned hot spots, In Charleston area the best vacation homes are booked very early. To get the best selection, start your planning and search 6-Twelve months before your trip. A lot of households decide to start their search during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve gatherings.

Select your Town and Travel Week

Sometimes, the hardest part of preparing for your vacation is figuring out where to search, and when. When the big decisions are tackled, everything else will be simplier and easier.

Exactly How Much Vacation rental Do You Actually Need?

Determine who is attending the vacation, and just how many/what kind of bedroom arrangement you'll need. Consider that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in the living room. You'll need to figure out what is most appropriate for your group. Specific descriptions of bedrooms and beds are commonly available on the internet. Otherwise, get in touch with the property manager before you reserve the home.

Stick to a Budget

The majority of rental properties are advertised with a price range. Confirm the cost for your chosen week. It may be at the high end of the range. If several groups or relatives are sharing the cost, make sure that each group understands their responsibility and has agreed to a maximum they are willing to pay. One individual in your company must be responsible for collecting contributions and accepting responsibility for the complete rental fee at time of reservation.

Create a list of "Wants" and "Requirements"

What amenities is the group interested in? Is a screened-in porch a necessity? Do you wish to be away from it all, or near civilization? Will the rental have bicycles and beach toys for use during your stay? Gather a list of prioritized "necessities and wishes" from your group to help narrow your search to the most suitable property.

Accessability

Often times the older generation has problems with stairs. Make sure that you remember and inquire about wheelchair entry, pool lifts and special equipment needs..

Paws-Friendly, Please

Are you or other people in the family traveling with a domestic pet? Pets are welcome at a number of rentals, but policies differ. Type of animal, size and breeds may be controlled. Study your contract carefully! Fees may apply when animals are added. When in doubt, ask the property manager and get it in writing.

Where to Search

Several internet resources exist to match vacationers with rental home owners.. Together with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we recommend searching Google for "Charleston area local rentals" for local rental home management companies. Local agencies will have a unique selection of vacation homes daily and weekly.

Negotiate the Price

When you have identified the rentalhome of your dreams, make sure your vacation dates are available.

Although not true for all properties, many rental owners and property managers will negotiate rates. If the price isn't negotiable, the number of nights may be. Your easiest chance for a lower rate is switching to a less desirable week.

Read the Contract

You really should know which services are included:

  • Utility bills
  • Internet Connectivity
  • Telephone service
  • Pool and hot tub heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Housekeeping
  • Trash collection
  • Maintenance policies
  • Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
  • Parking Fees

In addition to the regular fee, visitors have to pay local taxes when booking "OCEANFRONT, Fully Updated Condo in Shipwatch- Pool and Playground", along with any other fees which might be mandatory depending on their situation, including a dog charge, early check-in or later check-out fee, or a pool heater fee for private swimming pool usage during the fall or spring months.

If you'd like to Cancel

Make sure you be aware of the cancellation policy before booking. Many rental agreements include an option for trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs ranges from 1% - 5% of your standard rental home price, provides travellers with reimbursement of their vacation costs (and subsequent vacation property costs) for any nights missed as a consequence of personal health-related emergencies or weather, in addition to hurricane evacuation expenses, such as a unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas.

Reserve your Vacation Property

Once you feel you've found "the one", start the booking process. You will likely be required to submit a security deposit at time of booking.

Where to Get Help

Make sure you get the manager's contact phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend keeping the contact's information in your phone and wallet.

Congratulations on reserving your rental! You're on the way to a fantastic vacation!

During your Stay

  • Photograph on your arrival. To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas of the property. We also suggest immediately calling the rental manager with a report of any problems, together with your request for any fixes.
  • Ask questions. You might need guidance for a fireplace, Television or jacuzzi. Get in touch with your rental manager. They are there to help. A brief phone call helps prevent many head aches.
  • Please remember to respect your neighbors. More often than not, neighboring households are occupied by permanent residents. Remember the golden rule and treat others the same way you'd like to be treated by vacationers next to your residence.
  • Ask a local. Local residences can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best chicken wings, have a great date night, or the best spots for wildlife?
  • Enjoy your stay! Make certain to protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the vacation rental locked up while you are away, just like you would in your own home.

Check Out Time

  • Be certain that you've packed everything. Inspect drawers, bath cupboards and cabinets.
  • Once everything is out, perform a walk-through of the rental home to confirm no damage occurred during your stay. If you can, do this walk-out assessment with the property owner present. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • How do you feel about your stay? Most rental home management companies and vacation rental websites permit renters to provide reviews. If the rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your compliments. If anything went wrong and they didn't correct it in a practical manner, or if the rental wasn't as described, you may want to make it a point in your critique.

Iterate

Hold a meeting with your traveling companions. Does everybody want to go back? Hopefully this guide steered you to a terrific rental. Maybe the rental property wasn't quite right, and you'll better understand how to improve your search next time.
