Tips and Tricks for getting the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental in Charleston:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Captain's Quarters-Beautiful Home minutes to Folly has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Have a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
