Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer time is high season in Charleston. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Upper King Charmer! First floor, off street parking, walk to everything! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
