We have constructed a short guide to assist you in getting most from your vacation rental experience.

Where to find and book the perfect vacation home:

Do you think "(A1)Historic Charm + Modern Luxury StepsAway at SaintPhilipSquare" is the best rental property for your upcoming getaway? Browse through this guide to ensure it fits all of your preferences.

Search Early and Frequently

Like many trendy vacation spots, In Charleston area the best rentals are booked early. To assure the greatest choice of homes, we recommend searching and booking your Charleston area vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates, whenever you can. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years are excellent times to find and reserve your rental..

Find your Area and Identify Dates

Consensus can often be tricky between family, but once this difficult part is complete everything will start to drop in place.

Select a Size

Take a head count. How many beds and bedrooms will you need? Remember that a lot of homes list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in the living room space. It is important to figure out what is most appropriate for the company. Most rental home listings will summarize each of the unit's specific bedrooms and mattress sizes.

Decide on Your Budget

Many rental properties are advertised with a cost range. Determine the rate for your chosen trip. It could be at the top end of the range. Ensure that you get cost-sharing commitments from family and friends well before booking an expensive rental property. Normally, just one person in the group will be liable for making the whole reservation and collecting each family member's share.

Let's Talk Amenities

What home features is the family looking for? Do you just want a rental with a swimming pool, spa or beach volleyball court? Do you desire to be away from it all, or close to civilization? Are mattress sheets offered with the rental, or will you need to take your own? Make a list of "needs and wants" from your group to help narrow your search to the perfect home.

Special Circumstances

Appropriate access could make or ruin a trip for the less-mobile. Make sure that you remember and inquire about wheelchair access, pool lifts and special equipment requirements..

What About Furry Family Members?

Don't forget to include your companion! Dog guidelines are different at each rental. Study descriptions carefully. Many limitations could eliminate a prospective rental home. Make certain to study agreements and contracts carefully. Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract. If in doubt, ask the property owner and get it in writing.

Start your Search

. In combination with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we recommend searching Google for "Charleston area local rental homes" for local vacation home management companies. Aside from having exclusive properties, local agencies offer you top-notch service..

Negotiate

When you have located the rentalhome of your dreams, double check to make sure your trip dates are available.

While not true for all rental homes, many rental owners and property managers will negotiate rates. If they are unwilling to budge on a peak-season week, try getting an additional night. Off-peak weeks are likely to be negotiable more frequently than peak-season..

Read Through The Contract

Read the full contract and be sure you fully understand who is responsible for:

  • Utility bills
  • WIFI Access
  • Long Distance Phone Service
  • Pool Heating
  • Cable and pay-per-view TV
  • Cleaning Fees
  • Trash collection
  • Maintenance policies
  • Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
  • Parking requirements

In addition to the standard price, vacationers have to pay state taxes when booking "(A1)Historic Charm + Modern Luxury StepsAway at SaintPhilipSquare", in addition to various other additional fees that may be mandatory depending on their situation, including a pet charge, earlier check-in or later check-out fee, or a pool heater fee for private pool usage during the autumn or spring months.

Trip Insurance

Make sure you are familiar with the cancellation policy prior to booking. You will likely be offered trip insurance. Trip insurance protects the renter against emergency situations and weather events, It gives you comfort should catastrophe strike.

Complete the Reservation

As soon as you believe you've found "the one", start the booking process. Keep in mind that most rental contracts will require a substantial rental down payment and/or security deposit to protect the property owner.

Keep Your Contact's Information

Make sure to get the manager's contact phone number and entry/exit procedures for your vacation property. We suggest keeping the contact's information in your cell phone and wallet.

Congratulations! All that is left is making the most of your visit!

During your Stay

  • To make sure no damages are associated with your visit, make a record of any problem areas of the rental. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report your findings. This can protect against conflicts during checkout.
  • Ask questions. You could need instructions for a gas fireplace, Television set or spa. Contact your property manager. They are there to help. A phone call can save several hours of problems.
  • Remember to be a good next-door neighbor. Permanent residents frequently live within earshot. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay substantially more enjoyable.
  • Ask a local. Natives are a good source of advice.
  • Enjoy your stay! Remember to protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental home locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.

Check Out Time

  • Check to make sure you've packed all of your belongings. Sweep each room in the house for left-behind items. Check bathrooms, the garage, cabinets, outdoor patios, the swimming pool area, and anywhere else your gear might "hide".
  • When everything is out, begin a walk-through of the rental to verify no damage occurred during your remain. We advise walking through with the rental manager whenever you can (this may not be possible).. If the property owner is not available, you'll want to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • How do you rate your experience? Most rental home management companies and rental websites make it easy for travellers to offer feedback. If your rental home and/or property manager was first-rate, they will appreciate your recommendations. If something went wrong, we suggest being understanding but completely honest regarding your stay. Top property owners and managers will try hard to fix the problem.

Iterate

Hold a meeting with your family. Did they enjoy their rental? If everything was outstanding, next year's vacation planning will be simple and easy. Maybe the property wasn't quite right, and you'll better understand how to refine your search for the next trip.
