Pretty as a peach, our Carolopolis Award winning John Bulow House was build in the late 1800’s before undergoing a full remodel in 1996. Carefully marrying new with nostalgia, we lovingly maintained historic details while incorporating modern amenities.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the elegant first-floor A1 apartment is ready to host your next Charleston vacation for up to 8 guests. Enter through the quintessential Charleston-style front porch in to a gracious living room bathed in natural light from a graceful bay window.

The first bedroom is a flexible space to be used as a sitting room during the day with a queen Murphy bed to comfortable sleep at nighttime. The second bedroom features a opulent king bed. The two bedrooms share access to a handsome bathroom complete with granite finishes and a glass shower.

At the rear of the apartment you’ll find the third, master bedroom with a king bed and ensuite bathroom.

A mere stone’s throw from downtown Charleston’s bustling stores, eateries and more, should you decide to eat in, the modern kitchen is features new appliances and amenities coupled with a cozy dining room to comfortably seat 6-8 guests.

As our guest, you’ll be given convenient parking and a delightfully unique space to call your own during your Charleston hideaway that is mere steps away from all that historic downtown has to offer.

Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

When to book a Charleston area rental home & When to go:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer time is high season in Charleston. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. (A1) John Bulow House at St. Philip Square has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
