Getting the best vacation home experience:

Get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking your prefect Charleston area rental home:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Downtown, Historic, Renovated, Porches En-suite Baths, Parking & 5m walk to King has 9 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
