Our top Charleston rental home booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 152 Grove St 3br/2ba has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
